PADI Open Water Diver certification
PADI Open Water Diver certification is available for as low as $350, if you are able to find a suitable place to learn. This course requires at least four open water diving to earn your certification. PADI knows that different learners learn in different ways so let's have a chat if you're open to a private course. We will go over the basics of diving and answer any questions.
In addition to the Open Water Diver manual, you'll need to complete a series of knowledge reviews. These reviews are intended to test your skills in swimming and floatation. PADI recommends that you do a 10-minute survival flotation and skin diving before starting the course. There are 5 videos that link to each chapter of the manual. Divers must have the right skills to dive in confined water.
PADI Instructor Manual includes a list containing the required skills for each level. These skills include ascent and descend, mask clearing, neutral buoyancy at different depths and setting up and using your equipment. Open water diving requires these skills, but confined water diving is easier. You will also have more fun. And you'll get to dive under the sun and experience a world of different wildlife.
PADI Open Water Diver starts at 8.30am. A brief orientation, a theory session and a practice session in confined waters will be provided. During this time you will learn to breathe underwater and compensate for pressure. You'll then embark on a PADI dive on a boat to the Atlantic Princess, a thirty-meter-long wreck rich in marine life.
Maximum training depth
Open Water certifications will teach you how safe to dive to the maximum allowed depth. Many Open Water certified divers are unsure how deep they can dive. Most agencies allow for open water diving up to 50 minutes before recommending that divers go further. Below are some guidelines to help you decide if you should train at this level.
You will need to be able to swim 50 feet/15m without stopping if you want to take an advanced course. The typical course takes fourteen minutes so you will need to be able swim 200 yards (185m) without stopping. The equipment you will need is a single-cylinder, with at most 72 feet of capacity and adequate supervision. An exposure suit will be required to fit the length of your dive course.
The course requirements
A scuba certification course usually takes three to four days to complete. Students must complete a manual, study sections, as well as quizzes. Instructors help students with their answers. Begin your certification by learning the basics in confined dive. After they have completed the confined diving, they are ready to dive open water. The instructor will help students navigate the process and review the material.
The course requires prospective divers to complete four open-water dives with an instructor after they have completed the course. They will also learn safe diving techniques. After passing the theory, practical and final exams, an exam will be taken. The prerequisite to any certification is passing this exam. The exam measures if the student is proficient in diving skills. For example, the student will need to be familiar with water pressure and learn how to breathe underwater.
