PADI Instructor Certification Course (IDC), was created to prepare instructors for taking the PADI Instructor Exam. Candidates are assessed in the classroom as well as in confined and emergency water situations. Each section consists of a variety of tests and practical exercises. Open Water Teaching Presentations (OTP) are two of the requirements for the PADI Instructor Development Course. These presentations are critical for the overall success in the IDC program. PADI IDC candidates should be able to master two skills at once. These skills could be from different courses. They must practice these presentations before taking the IDC. Candidates must be confident in their abilities and know what they will be doing during the PADI Divemaster course.
PADI Instructor Development courses include nine (9) IDC Curriculum presentations. These presentations must be delivered by the PADI Course director or IDC staff and should relate to the PADI Open Water Divers, PADI Rescue Divers, or PADI Advanced Open Water Course.
