Opportunities for skating
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign boasts an ice arena which is free to the public. Here are some steps to take if you would like to host a group activity at the rink. First, you need to make a reservation. This can be done at the Illini Union RSO Office (Room 284). A list of participants must be provided when you reserve ice. In addition, you'll need to arrange for a supervisor to be at the rink to answer any questions you may have during the rental period.
Center Ice Cafe
The University of Illinois Ice Arena Center Ice Cafe is now open to the general public. The cafe is adjacent to the Customer Service Office. It serves food and beverages. A wide range of accessories for skating and hockey are available at the Ice Arena Pro Shop.
Free skate trainers

Gas leak at UI Ice Arena
Following a gas leak at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's ice arena, an Illini-Alert was issued by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The building was evacuated at 406 E. Armory Ave. after Ameren Illinois crews discovered a leak. To prevent further contamination, firefighters closed off a sideway leading to arena. It is believed the leak came from underneath the building.
