To become a deep diver

As a deep diver, you have the opportunity to dive to depths beyond those normally considered safe by the diving community. This may be due to prescribed limits set by a local authority. There are also opportunities to explore some of nature's most beautiful underwater environments such as Elphinstone Reef in Belize, the Galapagos or Elphinstone Reef. Continue reading to learn more about the conditions and locations that make deep diving such a special experience.

Elphinstone Reef

A liveaboard is the best way to experience Elphinstone Reef's underwater world. In this location, you can also dive backwards. This means that you need to be comfortable in your backward roll. When there are less people, you will have greater chances to see sharks and marine life. There are also more tropical fish. A hawksbill turtle is also nearby.

Blue Hole, Belize

The Great Blue Hole, a huge marine sinkhole off Belize's coast, is the Great Blue Hole. This incredible diving site is situated near the center of Lighthouse Reef, an atoll. The Great Blue Hole has a total surface area of 70.650 sq metres and is 124m below the waterline. These are some of most spectacular underwater scenes you will see in the entire world. This Belize diving spot is ideal for deep divers, as it has a cave-like feel and offers excellent visibility.

Galapagos

Deep diving in Galapagos is a rewarding and challenging experience. The Galapagos Islands are filled with fascinating marine life. The water is often opaque and cold, making it difficult to see underwater. The cool season (June-November) is when the water temperature is cooler and the currents are stronger. This is the best time of year to dive in the Galapagos Islands. You can find this helpful guide to scuba diving the Galapagos Islands if you are unsure if you are ready.

Elphinstone

For its beautiful soft corals and vibrant marine life, dive the Elphinstone Reef. This reef measures 300 metres in length and is found between twenty and forty meters deep. It is also covered with sea whips, large sponges, gogonians, and sea whips. You can find giant trevally, redtooth triggerfish, and redtooth triggerfish by dropping in to the finger-shaped plateau. You might even spot a hammerhead, which is rare and very difficult to find. This dive site has clear water and strong drift.

Belize Blue Hole

The Great Blue Hole is a place you should visit if you ever wanted to dive deep into the Caribbean Sea. The Blue Hole, located approximately 62 miles from Belize's mainland, is almost a perfect round hole. It lies in the center of the Lighthouse Reef atoll and is 125 meters deep. It is a popular spot for snorkelers and scuba divers, but few people have ventured into its depths.

Elphinstone and his buddy group

If you're looking for a boat dive in Southern Egypt, try diving Elphinstone, also known as Elfinstone. This saltwater dive site is located near Marsa Alam. It can reach a maximum depth up to 150 feet (46m). The visibility is anywhere from 61 to 70ft (19 to 21 metres).
